Transpac's Fastest Boats Ready With All-Star Crews [Press Release]

In a dedication ceremony held July 7 at Gladstone's Restaurant, Long Beach has been named the official California home to the Transpacific Yacht Race from Long Beach to Honolulu as part of the City's renewed Sea Festival. The event is the cover story in Sunset Magazine's June issue. More than 75 boats will be moored at Rainbow Harbor prior to the start of the race on July 11, 15, and 17.

The brand new Transpacific Walk of Fame is along the esplanade at Rainbow Harbor. The Walk recognizes winners of all 42 races since 1906. Among them are software entrepreneur Philippe Kahn and Transpac veteran Roy E. Disney, the nephew of Walt, who will be sailing his 15th and final Transpac. Disney and his son Roy Pat won in 1997 when his dad had a broken leg.

Testimonials

“The food was quite good, and that is not easy when serving 35 people. The room was almost ideal for our use, and everyone had a great time. Gave your servers a little extra as they did a fine job and were most accommodating to whatever I asked for.”

“We had a great time during our rehearsal dinner. Everyone there was so nice and the food was terrific. We should up a little early and everything was ready for us. We couldn't have asked for a better location to have our dinner. The view of the harbor was amazing!”
