Gladstone’s at the Pike in Long Beach opened its heart to Miller Children’s Hospital and the U.S. Sailing Center of Long Beach by giving a portion of its grand opening sales to these two local charities.
The newest restaurant in the Gladstone’s family opened with remarks by Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neill, a performance by the USC Trojan Marching Band and a flag-raising ceremony. Local business owners, supporters of the two organizations, community leaders and Mayor O’Neill gathered to celebrate the opening and help raise money by dining on some of Gladstone’s popular seafood entrées.
“These two organizations are doing wonderful things for the children of Long Beach and touch the three most important people in my life,” says John Sangmeister, CEO of Gladstone’s Long Beach, who met his wife sailing. “My sons are alive today because of the loving and expert care they received in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Miller Children's Hospital.”
Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach is a 281-bed, not-for-profit, full-service children’s hospital that cares for more than 100,000 children each year.
The United States Sailing Center is a non-profit public benefit corporation that provides facilities, equipment and programs that improve education in the sport of sailing in the Western United States.
